We love a good, old fashioned chemist shop. Not boots, where everything is modern and shiny and fantastic; but a local pharmacy where – alongside all of the usual things you find in a pharmacy – you find bits and bobs you haven’t seen in a while. Like things by Yardleys! Our local chemist has pretty boxed soaps and vintage bath salts but our favourite item was this fabulous body spray, in a can so retro it looks like it had been left on the shelf since the sixties! And it cost the princely sum of one British pound! Yes, it smells old fashioned, not unpleasant, like something one used at high school to mask the smell of a quick ciggie behind the bike sheds. It came in four “flavours”, blue…green…purple…but we chose Pears and orange ‘cos we loved the coral pink tin! Surely every second hand rose would love one of these in her stocking!
